Dubai, Oct 22: The entertainment lovers especially from Dubai and elsewhere were there to witness a memorable Dhoom Dhamaka 2011 with both comedy and musical entertainment at its best. The event organized by Dubai’s leading businessman Harish Sherigar was in aid of Mangalore’s ‘SANIDHYA’ which looks after mentally deprived children.
India’s winning comedy stars from the Great Indian Comedy Circus, Swapnil and VIP were at the helm of action at the Shaikh Rashid Auditorium of the Indian High School as they sent the crowd into splits of laughter repeatedly with their rip roaring comedy. It was a competition between the seasoned pair and just as they peaked the crowd wanted more amusement from the affable duo. VIP however astonished the crowd with his ability to imitate at least 30 plus film stars at one go without a break. His change of voice without taking a breath is something amazing. If one had come for the evening’s entertainment without proper medication of laughing tablets, then they could be forgiven because both the comedians made the audience forget everything else when they performed so brilliantly. The duo exhibited their comical oratory and showed why they are rated so highly in India’s comedy series.
As if this was not enough, there was more in store on the evening in the form of some high class musical fare. Mangalore’s talented set of musicians were in full flow when they backed seasoned singers like Mohammed Haneef, Anita Samson, Ranjan Das, Nayana Rajgopal, Sandesh and the ever smiling Harish Sherigar with one hit song after another much to the delight of the audience. The musicians were particularly impressive supporting every song with filmy style musical performance. Haneef known as Junior Rafi looked supremely gifted while Mangalore’s Lata Anita Samson lived up to her reputation with her beautiful rendering. Haneef and Anita combined well to sing an age old song ‘Jo Wada Kiya Who’ from the film ‘Tajmahal’ with pleasing effect.
However, the evening also belonged to tall and lively Ranjan Das who surely stole the evening’s honours. Ranjan has a huge and lovely voice that clears suits any kind of bouncy numbers. He was a cut above the rest among the men while Anita has come a long way with her beautiful singing. One cannot miss the young kid on the circuit Sandesh who took time to settle down but once he found his rhythm there was no stopping the lad. He was impressive in the duet with Anita where he showed that he is a star of the future. Both ‘Monica’ and ‘Zoobi Doobi’ were well appreciated by the audience. Nayana too made good use of the limited opportunites and showed her musical ability.
But the organiser of the evening Harish Sherigar was surely amazing. With his friends in the first row applauding, Harish rattled one song after another with ease and great style. His kannada song ‘Noorondu Nenapu’ from the film ‘Bandhana’ was soothing to every listener in the audience. There is no doubt that Harish loves his music no end and is ready to sing in any part of the world as long as he is given a microphone. Harish thrilled the crowd with his beautiful singing almost like the renowned singers SPB, Kishore Kumar and others.
There were some fantastic dances from Ocean Kids with colourful costumes. But the dance of the night was for the song ‘Zoobi Doobi’ which was beyond one’s imagination. With such lovely pairs dancing with precision and style, the dancers were a treat for the eyes. The Ocean kids danced their heart out and impressed everyone.
That the evening’s delightful entertainment was successful was evident from the music loving crowd that packed the hall which also included the generous sponsors who were supporting a worthy cause.
Dubai’s Earl compered the earlier part of the show while the husband and wife team of Anil and Urvashi were simply superb with own sense of wit and humour. The event management was fantastic with the entire coordination of the evening more than perfect. The stage set up was very colourful with beautiful lighting effects.
A tribute to well known musician friend Max Karkada who passed away a year ago was presented by Harish Sherigar with singing Max’s one of the famous song ‘Why did you break my heart’.
With a noble cause in mind and the fantastic response from the sponsors and the audience, it was a well spent evening for a worthy cause
Just before the main entertainment commenced a brief video about the charity organization ‘SANIDHYA’ was also played for the benefit of the audience. Later in the programme all the sponsors supporting the event were also honoured.
Hats off to Harish Sherigar who despite his busy schedule ensured that the show was beyond one’s imagination. With his generosity other charities can now expect Harish to come up with more such praiseworthy ventures.
