Mangalore: Sahaya KACES Painting, Collage Contests Focus on Peace, AIDS

Mangalore, Nov 20: Sahaya KACES, in association with Interfaith Coalition for Peace, New Delhi, organized 'Saamarasya', district-level painting competition for high school students and collage competition for PU students at Bishop Jothanna auditorium, KACES campus, Balmatta.

Renowned artist Tilak Raj, who was the chief guest, in his inaugural address, said that only human beings are gifted with talent and every one has talent within themselves. He added that children need motivation to bring out their skill and parents, teachers, and elders should motivate children in exhibiting their talents.

The theme of the painting contest was ‘Peace’ while ‘Fight HIV stigma and discrimination’ was the topic for the collage contest.

Honey Cavral, secretary of KACES, in his presidential address, said that we should not only be peace lovers, but also peace makers.

Carval further added that such competition brings out children's talent and their idea about peace and the stigma attached to HIV and AIDS. “It is not just a competition but also a campaign for peace and HIV AIDS,” he added.

C James, lecturer of KACES and warden of KACES hostel, welcomed the gathering and said that children are brought up in different cultures and backgrounds, so the activity will bring harmony in their life and society. He added that it will also help children understand values.

Sandeep Theophil, public relations officer of KACES, proposed the vote of thanks and said that painting is a powerful way of conveying messages to the society. “Such activity makes children understand and realize the difference between good and bad, peace and war,” he added.
