Mangaluru: YCS- Bantwal Deanery hosts UNIFICA 2024 talent fest

Mangaluru, Dec 5: The Young Catholic Students (YCS) of St John's Deanery, Bantwal, organised UNIFICA 2024 at the Anugraha Tri-Centenary Hall in Modankap on November 24. The event began in the afternoon and featured three exciting competitions — quiz, group singing, and skit. A total of 10 YCS units from Bantwal deanery enthusiastically participated in the competitions.

The valedictory programme was presided over by Fr Valerian D'Souza, parish priest of Infant Jesus Church, Modankap. Other dignitaries included Fr Melwyn Lobo, headmaster of Infant Jesus English School, Modankap; Fr Lancy D'Souza, director of YCS Bantwal Deanery; Reshma D'Souza, animator of YCS Bantwal Deanery; and Anitha Lobo, animator of the YCS Modankap unit.

Janet Pinto (YCS Diocesan coordinator) from Gurpur and Melvita D'Souza from Cordel served as the judges for the event.

Special guests for the valedictory programme included Swizel Mascarenhas, president of the YCS Modankap Unit;  Lenstar Monteiro, secretary of YCS Bantwal deanery; and Leswin Sequeira, YCS DEXCO member from Farla.

The event was hosted by Donald D'Souza, animator of the YCS Modankap Unit. Reshma D'Souza warmly welcomed the dignitaries, while Janet Pinto delivered an inspiring message encouraging youngsters to shine brightly in their YCS journey. Fr Melwyn Lobo shared words of guidance for the youth, and Fr Lancy D'Souza expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the event's success. Melvita D'Souza announced the competition results.

1st Place - YCS Modankap Unit
2nd Place - YCS Thodambila Unit

Group Singing Competition:
1st Place - YCS Farla Unit
2nd Place - YCS Loretto Unit

Skit Competition:
1st Place - YCS Thodambila Unit
2nd Place - YCS Farla Unit

The creative event logo for UNIFICA 2024 was designed by Leswin Sequeira from Farla and Joyston Noronha from Bellore. A total of 132 members from different YCS units attended the event. The day concluded with the YCS anthem, enthusiastic YCS claps, and a lively Baila dance, making the event a grand success and a cherished memory for all.
