New Delhi, Mar 26: Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Zia ur Rehman Barq has firmly rejected allegations that he delivered an inflammatory speech, allegedly inciting violence at Sambhal’s Shahi Jama Masjid during a court-ordered survey of the mosque in November 2024.
Responding to the notice issued to him, Barq clarified his stance, stating that the charges were completely baseless.
"You all are already aware of the situation, but I want to reiterate—my name has been wrongly included in this case. The accusation that I delivered an inflammatory speech is absolutely false. It is based on this allegation that I have received a notice," he said.

Emphasizing his commitment to the legal process, Barq added, "I am a citizen of this country, a Member of Parliament, and I have full faith in the judiciary and constitutional framework. I respect the law and will cooperate fully with the investigation. I have been summoned on April 8, and I will appear as required. I will provide all necessary assistance to the authorities."
He also recalled the initial complaint, where he claims his name was wrongly included, stating, "When the case was first registered, and my name was unjustly mentioned, we approached the Speaker of the House under the leadership of Akhilesh Yadav, demanding justice. Now that I have received this notice, we will consult on the next steps, and if necessary, take further legal action. However, I will fully comply with the investigation, as per the directives of the High Court."
On March 25, the Uttar Pradesh Special Investigation Team (SIT) served Barq a notice at his Delhi residence, linking him to the violence that erupted during the November 24, 2024, survey at Sambhal’s Shahi Jama Masjid.
