Gandhinagar, May 27: A wave of patriotic pride swept through Gandhinagar as Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived on the second day of his Gujarat visit, following the Indian Army’s swift retaliation to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. This marked his first trip to the state since the success of Operation Sindoor.
The Prime Minister was greeted with vibrant crowds during a grand roadshow through the streets of Gandhinagar, before he presided over the launch and inauguration of various development projects totaling Rs 5,536 crore at Mahatma Mandir.
Speaking at the 20th anniversary event of Gujarat Urban Development, PM Modi delivered a powerful message on national security. "This time, there's no need to show proof—the skies themselves bear witness," he declared, clearly addressing critics who often demand evidence of military action.

Reflecting on the patriotic spirit he witnessed across the state—from Vadodara and Dahod to Bhuj, Ahmedabad, and Gandhinagar—Modi described the overwhelming sight of saffron hues and fluttering Tricolours, symbols of national pride echoing far beyond Gujarat’s borders.
Using a vivid metaphor, he compared terrorism to a thorn in the body. “Even if the body is healthy, one thorn causes discomfort. We have resolved to remove that thorn,” he said, reiterating the government’s firm stance on eliminating terrorism.
The Prime Minister also focused on accelerating urban and social infrastructure. He inaugurated over 22,000 homes built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, worth Rs 1,006 crore. A significant ecological initiative, the Biodiversity Park in Surat—developed on reclaimed wasteland along the Kankara-Khadi riverbank at a cost of Rs 145 crore—was also unveiled.
Urban development received a significant push with Rs 1,447 crore worth of projects launched in cities including Jamnagar, Surat, Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and Junagadh. He also laid foundation stones for key initiatives totaling Rs 1,347 crore, including the much-anticipated Phase 3 of the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad, a project backed by Rs 1,000 crore.
Further, the Prime Minister launched and laid foundations for health and revenue sector projects worth Rs 672 crore. A highlight was the inauguration of expanded facilities at the U.N. Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research, marking a leap forward for Gujarat’s healthcare infrastructure.
With both an assertive national message and a vision for transformative development, PM Modi’s visit reaffirmed the government’s dual focus on security and progress.
