Panaji, Aug 14: Speculation over an impending cabinet reshuffle in Goa intensified on Wednesday, but Chief Minister Pramod Sawant remained non-committal, responding only with, “What has to happen will happen.”
His comment comes amid growing anticipation, especially after BJP State President Damodar Naik hinted that a reshuffle could occur before the Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
Both Sawant and Naik were in Delhi over the past two days, where they reportedly met senior BJP leaders to discuss key state and party matters. Upon returning to Goa, Naik acknowledged that discussions had taken place but clarified that the final decision rests with the Chief Minister and the central leadership.
“The reshuffle is the Chief Minister’s prerogative, but it may happen before Ganesh Chaturthi,” Naik said while speaking to reporters at the airport.
Talk of changes in the state cabinet has been circulating for several months, driven by concerns over ministerial performance, demands for better regional representation, and preparations for upcoming local body elections. However, the party leadership has yet to confirm any timeline or names.
