Mangaluru: Youth behind provocative posts on Instagram page ‘Karavali_tigers’ arrested

Mangaluru, Sep 19: The city police arrested a 22-year-old accused who had been spreading provocative messages through an Instagram page named Karavali_tigers.

A case had been registered at the CEN crime police station, Mangaluru, under Crime No. 41/2025, invoking Section 66(C) of the IT Act and Sections 56, 353(1), and 192 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The accused is identified as Mohammad Kaif (22), son of Sharif, a resident of Killuru House, Malavantige, Dakshina Kannada.

On July 19, 2025, a case was registered at Mangaluru CEN crime police station on the basis of provocative messages posted via the Instagram page Karavali_tigers. Acting on technical evidence, police traced the accused to Tamil Nadu. He was taken into custody in Tamil Nadu, brought back to Mangaluru, and produced before the court. The court has remanded him to judicial custody.

Additionally, another case has also been registered against the Instagram page Karavali_tigers at Bajpe police station, and further investigation is underway.
