Bengaluru, Oct 13: After the grand success of Bheema, Kannada star Duniya Vijay has now stepped into the Tamil film industry with a major role in ‘Mookuthi Amman 2’, starring Nayanthara in the lead.

Directed by Sundar C, the shooting of the film was recently completed, and Vijay shared a behind-the-scenes video on his social media handles. “My heartfelt thanks to director Sundar C. for introducing me to Tamil cinema,” Vijay had expressed earlier.

In this sequel, Nayanthara reprises her role as the divine Goddess Amman, a character that won her immense appreciation in the first installment. The movie went on floors in March this year, and on the occasion of Vijayadashami, the makers released the first poster, officially confirming Duniya Vijay’s participation in a pivotal role. However, the details of his character have been kept under wraps.

The film also features Yogi Babu, Abhinaya, and other popular Tamil artistes. The first Mookuthi Amman movie, directed by RJ Balaji, was both a critical and commercial success, produced by Iswarya K. Ganesh.

Meanwhile, Duniya Vijay is also part of an upcoming Tamil project directed by Puri Jagannadh, co-starring Vijay Sethupathi. His Kannada film ‘Land Lord’, directed by Jadesh Hampi, is ready for release and expected to hit theatres by the end of this month.

Vijay is also directing and starring in his home production ‘City Lights’, which is currently in its final shooting phase.
