Rajat Bedi credits sister Ila Bedi Dutta for pushing his name in Bollywood projects

Mumbai, Oct 24: Actor Rajat Bedi, currently in the limelight following the success of Aryan Khan’s The Ba**ds of Bollywood*, recently revealed how his sister, Ila Bedi Dutta, tried to get him cast in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War. Ila, a co-writer of the film starring Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, and Vicky Kaushal, reportedly recommended Rajat to Bhansali, but the casting did not materialise.

Rajat shared with News18 Showsha that his sister has always looked out for him and their elder brother, Manik Bedi, both in terms of opportunities and visibility in the industry. “She goes and tells directors, ‘Take my brother, na. Please see if any role suits him.’ Whenever she writes for a film, she scouts for roles for me,” he said.

The actor also opened up about the struggles he has faced in securing work, revealing that he has often had to make “cold calls” to directors. “Everyone told me they’ve seen my work and would consider me for their next project, but to be honest, that never happened. I’ve been trying to make a comeback for the last 10-15 years,” he said.

Rajat expressed hope for future projects, saying, “Please pray for me that I get some good, big-ticket work so I can show you what I’m all about. I’ve got so much more to share with the audience. My family and I are very fortunate and grateful that people have appreciated my work.”

This candid revelation highlights the crucial role of family support in navigating Bollywood, even as Bedi continues to seek his next major opportunity.
