Sonakshi Sinha opens up on rough patch, therapy saves relationship

Mumbai, Dec 7: Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha recently opened up about a challenging phase in her relationship with actor Zaheer Iqbal, revealing how couple’s therapy helped them overcome misunderstandings and strengthen their bond.

In a candid chat with Soha Ali Khan on her podcast, Sonakshi said that three years into their relationship, they faced a rough patch where “we wanted to pull each other’s hair out” due to constant miscommunication. “No matter what we did, we just couldn’t understand each other’s perspective. But in our hearts, we knew we had to make this work somehow,” she said.

She credited Zaheer for suggesting therapy, saying, “He told me, ‘I want this relationship to work, no matter what. I’ve heard about therapy, let’s just give it a shot.’ I agreed, and I’m so glad I did. Just two sessions later, we were back on track.” The sessions helped them understand each other better, highlighting that “what they say isn’t always what they mean,” and even small gestures of understanding changed everything.

Sonakshi and Zaheer, who dated secretly for nearly seven years, married in an intimate interfaith ceremony at home last year. Despite facing criticism from some quarters, the couple remained united, and Sonakshi’s revelations show the effort and commitment behind their seemingly perfect love story.

Soha Ali Khan emphasised the importance of counselling, saying, “If you can remember them in moments when you’re triggered—when to calm down, what words not to use—it fixes communication. And communication works only when both people truly want to make it work.”

The couple’s story continues to inspire fans, showing that even celebrity romances need patience, understanding, and effort to thrive.
