Chennai, Dec 25: The team behind director Mani Thellagutie’s upcoming spiritual supernatural thriller Trikanda, starring Mahendran and Shraddha Das in lead roles, is eyeing a tentative theatrical release on January 23 next year.

In an exclusive conversation with reporters, producer Srinivas revealed that the film was shot across Chennai and Hyderabad over a span of nearly two months. Explaining the reasoning behind the proposed release date, he said the makers want to align the film’s launch with the sentiments of its core audience.

“Our primary audience includes devotees and spiritually inclined viewers. Many of them travel to Sabarimala during this period. We feel it would be ideal to release the film once most pilgrims return, which is why January 23 is being considered. However, nothing has been officially locked yet,” he said.

The trailer of Trikanda was recently unveiled at Prasad Lab in Chennai in the presence of the media. It opens with haunting visuals suggesting the rise of dark, supernatural forces, accompanied by a voiceover that speaks of a battle not to bring light, but to prevent dawn forever.

As the trailer progresses, scenes depict devotees living in fear under the dominance of evil forces. A voice filled with anguish warns that something meant to be protected has fallen into dangerous hands, threatening the destruction of the world. The narrative then introduces Mahendran’s character through intense action sequences, positioning him at the heart of the conflict.

Shraddha Das is seen playing a psychiatrist who treats complex cases. In a key twist, she initially believes one of her patients suffers from bipolar disorder, only for it to emerge that he is under the influence of dark supernatural powers. The trailer strongly hints at an epic confrontation between good and evil as the film’s central theme.

In addition to Mahendran, Shraddha Das and Master Mahendran, the film features Ajay, Sahithi Avancha, Nandha Durairaj, and Amani in significant roles. Supporting performances come from Sai Dheena, Robo Shankar, Rowdy Rohini, ETV Prabhakar, Ambati Arjun, Spyder Sanjay, and Kalloori Vinoth.

Trikanda is backed by a strong technical crew. Cinematography is handled by Pavan Chenna, while music is composed by Harshavardhan Rameshwar and Shajith Humayun. Art direction is by C.S. Saimani, with lyrics penned by Mutamil and Vivek. Action sequences are choreographed by Anji, Nandu, Venkat Diamond, and Shanker, while dance numbers are designed by Suchitra Chandrabose.

The film is produced by Radhika Srinivas and presented by Rithvik Vetsha, with expectations building around its spiritual and supernatural storytelling.
