Kundapur, Feb 15: The Kundapur Rural police have arrested a long-absconding warrant accused allegedly involved in multiple criminal cases across the state.
The arrested accused has been identified as Shashank Shetty (32), also known as Shashikiran, Kiran Shetty, Rakesh and Shashi, son of Shekhar Shetty and a resident of Saukuru Alvar Mane in Gulvadi village of Kundapur taluk.
According to police sources, as many as 11 cases have been registered against him at various police stations. Of these, seven cases are registered at Kundapur Rural police station, and one case each at Hebri, Kalaghatagi, Kota, and Bengaluru’s Chandra Layout police station. The offences include theft, robbery and honey-trap related crimes.

Police said the accused had failed to appear before the court despite 12 warrants being issued against him and had been absconding for nearly four years. Continuous efforts had been made during this period to trace and apprehend him.
Acting on credible information received on February 15, 2026, that the accused was present at Bidkal Katte in Kundapura taluk, a police team conducted a swift operation and took him into custody.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of deputy superintendent of Police H D Kulkarni and circle inspector Santosh A Kaikini. The team was led by sub-inspector (Law & Order) Nasir Hussain and sub-inspector (Investigation) Chandrakala M. Pattar, along with head constables Raju B and Guru Prasad, and police constables Kiran B Patil and Chandra Shetty of Kundapura Rural police station.
The accused will be produced before the competent court, police said.
