Mangalore: 11-year-old Girl Commits Suicide for Being Told to Stay Home

Bantwal, Apr 5: A young girl committed suicide allegedly on being told by her mother to stay at home.

Rakshitha (11), daughter of Jinnappa Poojary, resident of Nooji committed suicide by hanging herself in her home in Koyla village of the taluk on Wednesday April 4.

Among three children, Ranjith is physically challenged and is studying in a special school in Mangalore. It is said that to bring him home, their mother Kushala was getting ready to go to Mangalore. Rakshitha wanted to accompany her mother and threw tantrums, but Kushala refused and told her to stay at home. Kushala left for Mangalore without her, while elder daughter Rashmitha is said to have gone to a bidi branch.
 
Making use of the time and opportunity, Rakshitha took the extreme step of ending her life by hanging by a saree, it is said.

Bantwal rural police arrived at the spot and conducted preliminary investigations.

Rakshitha was studying in 6th standard in Koyla higher primary school. Rakshitha’s uncle Vasu Poojary filed a complaint in Bantwal rural police station. Case is registered and investigations are on.

    Although, here no where mentioned about TV/serials for the above incident occurred in a poor family, some particular people acted too wise while expressing their comments as if they are known witnesses.

    This is so shocking to read. A small girl, 11 year old committed suicide.
    No one knows the reason why she ended her life in such a terrible way.
    When such things happens there is a lack of words and of understanding. I am very sorry for the small girl.

    Past many days these kind of stories come more frequent on daiji as well as newspapers. Most of our children are fully influenced by the TV serials especially CID,Crime patrol etc.. which effects the tender brains of our children. We as parents need to monitor them at every stage. It is also the duty of the Ministry of media and communications to look into this matter and bar the timings of these serials/shows.

    Very heartbroken story to hear,This sholdnt happen Someone can avoid , But its in Vain , we can see so many girls commits suicide one way the other, coz of RP people in and around, god help all the girls in this world and save them from RP, I will pray and all have to pary in this holy week so the wellbeing of women will be saved

    This is nothing but the negative influence of tv serials. Parents and children are glued to TV watching all sorts of serials and pictures.. There is no censor...Young minds are influenced by these tv shows.. shows like big boss, mirchi where one can find all vulgarity and sex...Parental control is very much necessary whilst watching tv shows...
