Rio de Janeiro, March 7 (IANS): Brazil legend Ronaldo accused Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson of lacking respect by referring to him as "the fat one".
Speaking during a press conference involving Brazil's 2014 World Cup organising committee in Belo Horizonte Wednesday, Ronaldo said he was "disappointed" by Ferguson's comments, reports Xinhua.
"I regret how disrespectful he was when he referred to me, it was not something that befits a person with the title 'Sir'," Ronaldo said. "I'm proud of what I achieved in football - I was the best in the world."
Ferguson made the remarks while comparing the retired great with current Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo before Manchester United's Champions League clash with the Spanish giants Tuesday.
Real Madrid won the match 2-1, eliminating Ferguson's team from the tournament.
"They (Real Madrid) shut him up," Ronaldo said. "I don't have too much to say to the man, except that wherever he goes I hope that his team loses."
