Mangalore: KMF records growth in all spheres

Mangalore, May 19: The total progress and future development plans of the Karnataka Milk Fedaration (KMF), Mangalore, was outlined by Raviraj Hegde, president of KMF, on Saturday May 18 at 3:30 pm in the conference hall at the KMF’s Mangalore Dairy.

Founded in the year 1986, KMF celebrated its silver jubilee on May 8, 2011.

The total percent of milk collection in 2011-12 from 647 primary milk collection centers was 1.96 lac litres per day and has reached 2.23 lac per day in the year 2012-13, an increase of total 14 percent. In the year 2011-12, the federation had sold 2.88 lac litres per day and in 2012-13, it has increased to 3 lac litres per day. There has been a good percentage of increase in the selling of curds as well.

The total business turnover in the 2011-12 financial year was Rs 367 crore and it has increased to Rs 451 crore in the year 2012-13, an increase of nearly 24 percent. The company is expecting a total turnover of Rs 555 crore in the financial year 2013-14.

As on 31-03-2013, the company’s share investment is total Rs 739.8 lac. The direct payment for the milk yielders in 2011-12 was Rs 355 lac and it has increased to Rs 550 lac in the year 2012-13.

As there are a few problems faced by the milk yielders, in different dimensions, with a view to increase the rate of yield and to encourage the yielders, special programmes have been planned with a total cost of worth Rs 2 crore.

About 54 BMC centres including five new ones are to begin working this year and highest quantity of milk is being collected from these centres.

Various programmes and new products have been launched, which in fact have increased the name of the brand and has even helped in getting good profit from the products.

Newly authorized Nandini Ksheera Centres have been opened up in various other places like railway station, Subrahmanya Railway Station, District Hospital Udupi, and Konaje University.

The prestigious NDP accreditation to be given to the KMF, total developmental plans worth Rs 1297.66 lac have been sent to the central government. The KMF’s share in the projects will be Rs 549.99 lac. As per this project of a five-year term, both Mangalore and DK district are to get 30 new milk yielding associations, 17 BMC centres, and 130 DPMCUs ( data processing milk collection unit).

The Mangalore diary is to get a new milk production unit at a cost of Rs 26.5 crore, out of which Rs 14 crore will be paid by KMF and Rs 12.5 crore will be borne by the NABARD scheme. In the 2013-14 year, KMF has decided to launch various products like cashew ‘burfi’, banana, and pineapple flavoured milk, and RTE (ready to eat) ‘gulab jamoons’.

“With these new developments, innovations, and progress, KMF is awaiting much more increase in its financial status over the upcoming financial years,” he added.

Sreekantayya, Sucharitha Shetty, K M Hedge, Mukund Nayak, Dinakar Shetty, Janaki, and others were present.
