Udupi, Jan 18: The president and office-bearers of Nandikur Jana Jagruti Samiti who were accused of assaulting Nagarjuna Power Corporation official M M Shetty have now been granted anticipatory bail by Karnataka High Court.

Nandikur Jana Jagruti Samiti president and taluk panchayat member Laxman Shetty and four other office bearers were accused of assaulting M M Shetty on October 18 evening.  Following the assault, M M Shetty had been admitted to the hospital as he had been injured seriously.  In his complaint he had named the five persons as having assaulted him as he was on his way back home on October 18 evening.

Earlier the sessions court here had rejected the bail plea of the accused.  Accordingly they had appealed in the High Court which has now granted them anticipatory bail.
