Mangalore: St Christopher association celebrates Hostel Day

Mangalore, Dec 6: The 33 year-old working men hostel St Christopher Hostel,Rosario  Mangalore celebrated its hostel day here  with the 50 inmates in the hostel.

The hostel began in 1981 as a dream of late Fr Fred V Pereira for rikshaw drivers who work during the daytime and have no place to reside in Mangalore.

The common space and  partition rooms are the major occupancy space inside the hostel for an affordable fee. Every year the practice is to celebrate the hostel day early December jointly by the executive committe and inmates.

On Thursday December 5, the day was celebrated and the guest of the occasion was advocate and notary Stany R. D’costa.

Speaking on the occasion he said "in every profession a good relation with the customer is very important. Drivers have to pave the way with a smile. Mangalore is full of temperless drivers who blow horns unnecessarily and create sound pollution. Vehicle owners and other drivers must start this practice and let it be an example to others."

On the occasion joint secretary Leena Dsouza conducted some games to the inmates and  members and chief guest distributed the prizes.

One of the inmate Praveen Lobo was honoured by Raymond D’cunha , the president of St Christopher Association  for his best behavior  in the hostel during the last year.

Honourary president Susheel Noronha distributed gifts to the hostel staff and said that it is a  tradition every year to celebrate the hostel day and reconfirm relations between the inmates and the executive comittee.

President Raymond D'cunha welcomed the secretary Herald D’souza read the reports and proposed vote of thanks. Joint secretary Denis D’Souza compered. Vice president Fracis D’souza on the stage. Manager Dolphy D’souza took charge of decoration and arragements.
