Bantwal: Students barred from appearing for exam to improve school performance!

Daijiworld Media Network – Bantwal (SP)

Bantwal, Apr 4: In a shocking development that can potentially turn the future of students bleaker, it has now been revealed that the vice-principal of the government composite high school at Siddakatte in the taluk allegedly prevented two students from appearing for the ongoing SSLC examination.

It is said that the authority concerned was driven by the zeal to improve the performance of his school in taking the above action.

This action, reportedly on the part of vice-principal Babu P M, can have far reaching impact on the lives of these two students. This educational institution had registered 94 percent result last year, and the vice-principal was determined to ensure that his school clocks 100 percent result this time, it is alleged.

It is said that the vice-principal had asked six students, who were found to be not performing up to the mark in periodic examinations, against appearing for SSLC examination this year. Four among them ignored his directions and appeared for the examinations. The other two absented from the examination and began working in Moodbidri.

The family members, who grew suspicious after the students failed to appear for the first few examinations, confronted them. They got to know from them that they had been advised to stay away from the examinations. The family members and some locals then asked one of the absentee students to make a call to the vice-principal. It is said that during this conversation the teacher confessed to have prevented these students from writing the examination. The family members and some locals then went to the school and took the vice-principal to task. Some people then tried to settle the issue amicably, but their efforts did not succeed.

When contacted, block education officer of Bantwal block, Sheshashayana, said he was not aware of this incident. He promised to look into the matter and take suitable steps.

In a country where a teacher is considered as a 'God', it is a pity that students were forced not to take the exams. It is the duty of the teacher to groom students. Passing and failing are part of life. The zeal of attempting success is important than passing or failing. There are many failed people, who found success in future life. The school authorities have failed to inform the parents prior about the performance of students. They have also failed to take measures to help the students in facing the examination. How will the school authorities compensate the mental agony or the time wasted by the students? Is the examination pattern is to test the ability of students or to find the real ‘winner’ like in a horse race? In the current episode, the teachers failed in their duty to educate and coach the students in facing the important examination of life! Keeping in mind about fees paid by the students and salary obtained by the teachers, don’t you think these teachers should be sacked??

Sad trend. Teachers must work hard and make them study instead of preventing them from writing examination. Feeling very sad for poor students who are banned from writing examinations.

What is wrong in this School? The principal or teacher should inform first their parents about the student's eligibility, whether Student will be kept back or not.In advance teacher should also put their 100% effort to make them fit. They cant Keep back Student because of School wants full success. We hear almost everyday children/students are committing suicide because of the results or exams.we have to think that. They should allow them to appear for exams.we never know who passes or Fails.but a Chance is worth.Just control teachers how good they are,how they teach with enthusiasm or bored.when so happens immediately take a Consultant like a lawyer and let them explain.simply wasting students one year is not good.

Schools must lift & guide the poor performer into a top performer, rather sending him home! That shows the real achievement of the school. If they want only 100% result, then let them take only one brilliant student per class so that if one passes also result will be 100%!!!!!Such schools should be barred rather than barring students!

This is not new, there are so many private schools in Mangalore were they tell the parents to remove their kids and put them in state schools when they reach 8 std. Reason given the kid finds it difficult , but the actual reason the school wants 100% results.

The rat race for securing ranks and 100% results amongst educational institutions is causing great agony and anguish to the students and their parents. Whenever such instances of prohibiting students from answering exams are noticed the education department after proper enquiry should withdraw the affiliation granted to such educational institutions, even if such harassment is caused to ONE student.Such cases should be dealt as a criminal act and imprisonment given as a penalty to the errant authorities.

It is the Schools (Principal,vice-principal and teachers) responsibility and duty to make student ready for the exam,That's why the government is paying.
There are schools where students numbers are reducing government stop giving aid or reduce the teachers at par then teachers start hunting students from all mining Kore site to gether students providing them uniform and mid day meal not because they love student, but only to protect their job.>>>>>>>likewise in mangalore district there are many schools which are there to just give jobs to teachers and protect their jobs nobody bothered about students life and future>>>>>

All the students should be given a fair chance to appear for the exam (if need be in a separate hall and a difference question paper). It is the right of every student to appear for final exams, no matter how is his performance during the academic year. The future of a student is more important than the school performance. Teachers should have coached them properly. It is a pity things like this are happening in open.
