Mangalore, Oct 9: One-Day Hands-on Science workshop for students was organized by Sunday Science school at St Agnes college, Mangalore on Thursday October 9 in the city.

Centre for Advanced Learning (CFAL) and St Agnes college have been conducting this activity from the past 3 years in the campus of St Agnes college.

As many students fail to come on Sunday for the science workshop, the awarness programme on Science workshop for students was organized today.

Suyash Dhake of Sunday Science school briefed about Hands-on Science, "Experimental learning is very vital when it comes to understanding basic concepts in Science. Hands-on learning is the only way students can directly observe and understand Science. As students develop effective techniques for observing and testing everything around them, they learn the what, how, when, and why, of things with which they interact. These experiences are necessary if the youngsters of today are to remain 'turned-on' to Science and become scientifically literate."

Principal of CFAL, Severine Rosario said," Students only read and there is no practical knowledge for them. The research in the country is done by only few, the government is indeed sponsoring for the research but only few take up the challenge. The children need to have the practical knowledge now, only then they will be the future scientists of the country."

Professor Jayantha, HOD of Chemistry, St Agnes College was present along with other science teachers of the St Agnes College.

The Hands on science workshop will be from 9.30 am till 4.30 pm. The students of 7th, 8th and 9th standard are eligible to participate in this programme.
