Mangalore: Condolence meet for M V Kamath held at Press Club

Mangalore, Oct 10: Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists' Association and Mangalore Press Club observed a condolence meet for the death of veteran journalist, former chairman of Prasara Bharathi, Dr M V Kamath (Madhav Vittal Kamath) at Mangalore Press Club here on Friday October 10.

After offering a floral tribute to the portrait of M V Kamath, addressing the gathering Udayavani Chief, Manohar Prasad said, "M V Kamath was the finest epitome of how to become good journalist. Patriotism was in his blood as he was born in a freedom fighter's home. Kamath was the journalist who belonged to the pre and post independence era and wrote abundantly. His death is a great loss to the field of journalism."

"Kamath worked with commitment and dedication towards journalism since during the British rule. On those days, Kamath also got an opportunity to report on Nathuram Godse courting hearing with regard to the assassination of Mahathma Gandhi," he added.

"In the contemporary scenario journalists are lacking patience and a smile on their face. Though Kamath was in stressful situations he used to deal it with an abundance of patience. Kamath loved to share information with others. He was a staunch criticizer of Indira Gandhi," Prasad concluded.

Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists' Association president P B Harish Rai, Press Club president Ramakrishna R, secretary Shrinivas Indaje and others were present for the meet.
