Mangaluru: Two drug peddlers arrested by Kadri police

Mangaluru, Nov 7: Kadri police arrested two persons Prajwal (19) from Vyasanagara near Karnataka Polytechnic and Ganesh (19) from Akash Bhavan, when they were allegedly engaged in selling ganja, here on Thursday, November 6.

Both have been taken into custody and 115 grams of ganja was confiscated from their possession. In addition, a scooter, two cell phones and Rs 660 cash have been seized.

Police said that the duo used to get ganja from Uppala in Kasargod district and sell to youngsters, particularly students, at Kuntikan Junction and nearby areas including Urwa. However, they are yet to find out the names of the persons from Uppala from whom these two peddlers got their stock of drug.

It is learnt that every day, the duo went to Uppala and brought 25 to 30 packets containing five grams of ganja each and sold them for Rs 110 each by retaining ten percent margin. During questioning, both of them have revealed that they made a profit of Rs 300 to 400 every day.

Prajwal happens to be an accused in the murder of Ganesh Shyam at Pumpwell, while Ganesh's name figures in a motor bike theft case registered in Urwa police station, informed police.

A team working under the guidance of Kadri police inspector, T D Nagaraj, led by sub-inspector, Rafiq, and assistant sub-inspector, Krishna, arrested the duo based on complaints received from locals, police sources added.
