Kundapur, Apr 8: A responsible and high ranking officer who was supposed to look after the welfare of children has been caught receiving bribe at Kambadakone.

Nityananda Achar (45) is the offender. He is a CRP officer at Kambadakone within Byndoor limits.

Lokayuktha officials caught Nityananda red handed in the act. The bribe was demanded in relation to moving the file for a free RTI seat.

As per details, Prajwal, son of Gangadhara Mogaveera of Nagoor Hosahitlu got a free seat under RTI. Gangadhara confirmed the same in concerned website and came to Nityananda Achar to enquire about further step.

Nityananda told Gangadhara to bring Rs 10,000 to move the file. Ultimately the deal was ‘negotiated’ at Rs 8,000.

Gangadhara took a daring step. He thought he should put a break to officials taking bribe in the education matters of children. He approached Lokayuktha and briefed them about the bribe. Then he fixed the day and time with Nityananda about the payment.

When Gangadhara was giving the money to Nityananda on Tueday, Lokayuktha officers apprehended him.

Lokayuktha officer Krishnananda Nayak, Lokayuktah DySp Nagesh Shetty, Inspector Mohan Kothari and other personnel were present during the raid. Further investigations are on.
