National karting final in Bengaluru


Bengaluru, Oct 8 (IANS): Bengaluru will host the fifth and final round of the 12th National Rotax Karting Championship.

After hosting the first four rounds in Hyderabad, Coimbatore and here, the final round will return to Meco Kartopia on October 10 and 11. The qualifying and the heat races will be held on Saturday while the pre-finals and final will be held on Sunday followed by the championship prize distribution.

The karters are divided into three categories: Micro Max (7-12 years), Junior Max (13-15 years) and Senior Max (15 years and above).

The Overall champion in the Junior and Senior Max categories will represent India in the World Karting Finals in Portugal later this year. In addition, the overall top-3 winners in Junior and Senior Max categories will get a fully sponsored drive in JK Racing India Series in 2016.

In the Micro Max category, 11-year-old Shahan Ali Mohsin from Agra (Meco Racing) is dominating the championship with 350 points. In Junior Max, Akash Gowda from Bengaluru (Meco Racing) is in the lead with 330 and Ricky Donison from Bengaluru (BPC Racing) in Senior Max category with 335 points is leading are the points tables.

The six teams participating in the championship are Rayo Racing from Mumbai, Meco Racing from Chennai, Mohite's Racing from Kolhapur, BPC Racing from Bengaluru, Erda Racing from Baroda, Indian Karting from Kolhapur and Dark Don Racing from Chennai.
