Mangalore, Nov 3: An export potential survey was initiated by the Kolkata-based Indian Institution of Foreign trade (IIFT), Engineering Export Promotion Council and Visvesvaraya Industrial Trade Centre (VITV) in association with the Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) here in the city on Friday November 2.

Speaking to reporters, Kumble Narasima Prabhu president, KCCI said that the survey is being launched in four districts in the state including the city. The main objective of the survey is to enhance the export potential, he added.

At an interactive meeting held with the representatives from IIFT, VITU, the exporters from the region highlighted the absence of infrastructure facilities like Air Cargo complex and better roads.

While filling-up the questionnaires, the exporters highlighted on developing Old Mangalore Port.

On behalf of other facilitators, Chakravarthy from IIFT said to the exporters from the region that a proactive mechanism will help in the rapid growth of exports.
