M’lore: Additional Funds to Complete Malavoor Dam Assured

Mangalore, Nov 3: Union minister for rural development, Dr Raghuvansh Prasad Singh offered assurances of releasing an additional of Rs 11.55 crore, to speed up Malavoor vented-dam works under rural regional water supply, as part of Union Rural Water Supply Programme.  The dame is proposed to supply water to 10 villages, located in the surrounding of Malavoor.

‘Union minister offered assurances when we submitted a memorandum to him, at the national capital, New Delhi" stated Suratkal ex-MLA K Vijay Kumar Shetty, Kavoor Bunts Association president B Laxman Shetty.

A copy of the memorandum has been personally handed over to union minister of state for labour, Oscar Fernandes too.

The proposed dam aims at supplying water to Malavoor and neighbouring villages of Moodushedde, Padushedde, Bajpe, Permude, Badaga Yekkar, Tenka Yekkar, Jokatte, Kenjar, Bala, Kalavar with an estimated cost of Rs.14 crore. 

As per the latest estimation, Rs 18.19 crore was fixed while union government has already released Rs 6.64 crore including a contribution of 10 per cent for community development.  Accordingly, union minister has offered assurances to release an addition of Rs 11.55 crore when the delegation led by ex-MLA met him at New Delhi recently, stated the press release by Viay Kumar Shetty.

The ex-MLA thanked both union minister for rural development Dr Raghuvansh Prasad Singh and union minister of state for labour Oscar Fernandes, in this regard.
