Udupi: Rakshana Vedike Office-bearers Assaulted in Court Premises

Udupi, Nov 7: An assault case was reported in the court premises itself, at the backdrop of talking to a witness who arrived at the court, here on Tuesday November 6.

Prasanna Kumar, a resident of Karkala and Shivaprasad, a resident of Hebri, the leaders of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike, were assaulted by Dhananjay Amin, ex-taluk panchayat (TP) member and his supporters when Prasanna Kumar and Shivaprasad were talking with Manjunat, an witness in Rony’s murder case on Tuesday.

As a result, Shivaprasad and Prasanna Kumar sustained injuries on their face and are being treated at district government hospital, here.

Prasanna Kumar and Shivaprasad, have complained to the police that they had come to talk to Manjunath who was one of the accused in Rony’s murder case, when Dhananjay Amin and his supporters assaulted, since they were irked to know that both Prasanna Kumar and Shivaprasad were ardent supporters of Rony. 

Though the alleged assaulters Dhananjay Amin and his supporters were summoned to report at the local police station, they have not reported, informed the police personnel.
