Mangalore, Nov 10: “The aim of ‘Kala Sangam 2007,’ is to provide an outlet for the young and older minds to exhibit their talent in fine arts and culture, thereby promoting their overall development”, informed A Lobo, director of Mangalore Musical and Cultural Association (MMCA).
 
Lobo was speaking to media persons after the inaugural ceremony of Kala Sangam 2007, an annual festival organized by MCC held here at Gitanjali, on Saturday November 10.
 
Framing norms has been one of the main aims while thinking of giving a better shape to the competition, which subsequently materialized as Kala Sangam 2007, he declared. However, framing norms for MMCA was not the only yardstick rather bringing a sense of discipline in children has been the real intention, he clarified.
 
According to Lobo MMCA would never compromise on social morals and it would have taken all the measures to see that nothing in the competition would corrupt the minds of participants, in terms of morals. The topics on Deepavali and Mysore Dasara given to contestants, clearly reflects the above referred policy conspicuously, he pointed out.
 
Competitions like the handwriting competition, is very essential as it will bring differences in one's handwriting to the fore, he stated expressing his happiness and satisfaction over the fortnight event.
 
Joe Pereira and Beatrice Pereira were the chief guests who inaugurated the event. Fr Ravi Santhosh Kamath blessed the ceremony while Felix D'Silva presided over the function.
 
Victor D'Souza and John Monteiro too were present at the inaugural ceremony.
