Udupi, Jan 4: A demand for an impartial investigation by an neutral outside agency into the recent explosions at the Nagarjuna project site, was made here by the Jayashreekrishna Parisara Premi Samithi (JPPS).

The founder president of the Samithi, Jayakrishna Shetty addressing a press meet here on Wednesday, Jan 2 demanded compensation for the damage caused to houses and property in the vicinity. Moreover, he also made a demand for the formation of a damage claim cell at the deputy commissioner’s office.

Informing media persons on the matter, he said that the district unit president of the Samithi Vishwanath Mada who had visited the site was told by the villagers that they heard a huge explosion and had even felt the earth shaking below their feet.

The Nagarjuna officials at the site, on the other hand had denied the news saying that there had been no explosion and clarified that it was only some controlled stone blasting. Shetty alleged even Panduranga Rao the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Lanco  had given a similar reply over the phone.

Expressing his strongest resentment and displeasure, he strongly condemned the Company for employing cheap and unprofessional means to blast rocks at the site, which inadvertently went totally awry.
