Mangaluru, Apr 15: Two women, one each from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, ended their lives by jumping into wells on Thursday April 13 night.

Mary Quadros (50), resident of Akash Bhavan here, had visited the house of her younger sister living a little distance away from her residence, on Thursday late evening. She suddenly leapt into the well located in her compound and lost her life instantly. It is said that Mary had been suffering from ill health since sometime, and perhaps decided to end her life on account of this frustration. A case about this suicide was filed in Kavoor police station.

A woman living at Subhas Nagar, Shankarapura in Moodabettu village, Katapadi, took away her life by jumping into a well. She has been identified as Laveena Menezes (46),  daughter of the late Jerome Menezes, resident of Kanyana near Katapadi.

After getting divorced a few years back, Laveena was undergoing depression, it is said. She jumped into a well owned by Sadananda Shetty living in her neighbourhood.
