Puttur, May 31: The court of the sub-divisional officer here has rejected the recommendation of the district superintendent of police for the externment of a textiles merchant. The court said that it did not find sufficient supporting materials to uphold the recommendation.

The superintendent of police had sought externment of Kishore, residing near Narahari Parvatha in Goltamajalu village in Bantwal taluk, who runs Jupiter Textiles in the town, under section 55 of Karnataka Police Act 1963 relating to removal of persons about to commit offences. He had claimed that Kishore has been disturbing peace and tranquility in the society.

Kishore, who owns a textiles store in the town since 2009, was accused of indulging in violent activities in the areas in and around the town along with his accomplices, by claiming himself to be an activist of various organizations. The police had said that he was assaulting innocents, rioting, posing life threats, and involved with acts of goondaism. To regulate this, they said he needed to be externed.

Sub-divisional officer here, Raghunandan Murty, in an order, said that the report filed by the police do not have sufficient grounds to support the allegations.
