Mangalore, Jun 8: If the bus had moved a little further, the Ullal bridge would have witnessed a major tragedy on Sunday, June 8. Fortunately, nothing as such happened and all the passengers in the bus escaped unhurt in this queer accident.
The incident occurred when a private bus was proceeding to Manjeshwar from the city. The driver lost control over the bus as the steering wheel rod was cut while on Ullal Bridge. Suddenly, another bus rammed into it from the behind. The bus climbed over the retaining wall of the bridge. Fortunately, it didn’t cross the retaining wall.
If the bus had crossed the retaining wall, there is no doubt that it would have fallen into the river. The bus was jam packed with the passengers. The retaining wall acted as a saviour and succeeded in avoiding a big misfortune.
Sources informed that, two persons sustained minor injuries in this incident. The passengers were seen profusely thanking God for saving them from the clutches of death.
