Mangaluru: Man held for forcibly confining woman in room, attempting rape

Mangaluru, Oct 29: A person, who has been accused of forcibly keeping a woman in a room and then trying to rape her, was arrested by Ullal police on Saturday October 28.

It is said that the woman was waiting for a bus to go to her friend's home at Kotekar Madyar near Pumpwell when she saw Abdul Karim from Belma village. She enquired with him about the bus to be taken to reach Madyar. Allegedly, Karim offered assistance to her to reach Madyar. He accompanied her to Madyar after promising her to take her to her friend's home and confined her in a room. He tried to rape her there, it is said, but the woman somehow succeeded in escaping from him. When the accused followed her and pleaded with her in an effort to convince her, the locals caught hold of him and handed him over to the police.

The accused was booked and produced in court.
