Bengaluru, Oct 31: An indefinite strike, demanding the fulfillment of grievances of workers belonging to state transport, including Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), will be held at Bengalulru from November 2 as per the decision taken by Road Transport Employees' Union.

Speaking at the press conference on Monday, Oct 30, H S Manjunath, chief secretary of the union said, "We were assured of the fulfillment of our demands during the meeting we had with the chief minister and the concerned minister for transport. However, now the department officials are hesitating to comply with the agreement. They are showing apathy in releasing the remaining part of the money.”

“Inter-corporation transfers have already started. In spite of the minister's assurance that thousands of workers will be benefited, the order is not yet implemented. As many as 250 workers belonging to Puttur division have not been released in spite of getting transfer orders. Hundred people who were recruited for Hassan division have not been recalled even after a year of sending them to Mangaluru division on loan basis. Out of the 52 demands, only two have been met,” he added.

He also said, "Drivers of buses that are plying on long routes are being harassed in the name of 'bar duty'.”
