Udupi: BJP chief Amit Shah to address fishermen's convention at Malpe beach on Feb 19

Udupi, Feb 9: “National president of BJP Amit Shah will be touring Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district from February 18 to 20,” said district president Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde at BJP Town office on Thursday, February 8.

“On February 19, Shah will participate in BJP fishermen's convention at Malpe beach at 4 pm. The event is being organized by district BJP Fishermen Prakoshta, Udupi district unit. Central ministers, state BJP president BS Yeddyurappa, Udupi-Chikkamagluru MP Shobha Karandlaje, and MP Nalin Kumar Kateel will take part in BJP fishermen's convention.”

“As per the schedule, followed by the convention, at 7 pm to 8 pm the same day, he will visit Sri Krishna Math to take darshan of Lord Sri Krishna. He will meet Paryaya Palimaru Sri Vidyadheeshateertha Swmiji and Pejawar Swamiji. On February 19, from 8.30 pm to next day 9.30 am, Shah will stay overnight in Udupi. After finishing his breakfast in the morning February 20, he will take part in social media leaders’ convention. From 11.00 am to 1.00 pm, he will address party workers at Shakti Kendras (a group of six districts) meeting.

“Udupi District Co-operative Fish Marketing Federation Yashpal Suvarna has been appointed as convener of the BJP fishermen's convention. Different committees have been formed to manage the programme. Assistant conveners will be former MLA Lalaji R Mendon, Sadanand Balkur, Shashikanth Padubidre, Naresh Koderi, Panduranga Malpe, Manju Billava, and other MLCs Kota Srinivas Poojary and Sunil Kumar from Karkala, Former Ministers and Former MPs K Jayaprakash Hegde, former minister Halady Srinivas Shetty, K Raghupathi Bhat, Sukumar Shetty Byndoor, Kiran Kodgi Kundapur, Gurme Suresh Shetty Kaup and others.

“Preparation for the convention is on full swing. As many as 50,000 people are expected to take part in the convention. Kutyar Naveen Kumar Shetty will be the in-charge of two events on February 20 and Kuylady Suresh Kumar Shetty will take the charge of hospitality of the guests,” he said.

Commenting the proposed move of government to take over maths and temples, he said, “The government dropped its decision and has withdrawn circular regarding the taking over of maths and temples because of the upcoming elections. This discriminatory move will be implemented if Congress wins the assembly elections. People of the state should teach them a lesson during this election.

“The state government is repressing Hindus. It has withdrawn all complaints registered against PFI, SDPI and KFD activists, but there are thousands of complaints against Hindu activists. BJP condemns this suppressing policy against the Hindus,” Mattaru added.

Kutyar Naveen Shetty, chief secretary Kuylady Suresh Nayak, Suresh Shetty Gurme, and Sadanand Nayak Balkur were present.
