Karkala, Feb 27: Over 20 members from certain Hindu outfits entered a house in Chara near Hebri at around midnight on Sunday February 25, dragged a man out of his house, and indiscriminately thrashed him.

This news has been making rounds in social media since Monday morning. However, the person who allegedly was the victim of the assault, denied any such incident. He explained that he had slipped inside the bathroom and injured himself and that he was not beaten up as alleged.

Some sources claim that immediately after the incident, some political leaders mediated between the persons involved and settled the issue amicably on account of which the concerned has been denying the incident. Police circle inspector from here, Joy Antony and district crime intelligence bureau officials from Udupi arrived on the spot for undertaking further investigation.

No written complaint was lodged in this connection. District superintendent of police, Laxman Nimbargi, said that strict legal action would be initiated against the accused if the victim files a written complaint.
