Steel Minister inaugurates corporate sports policy

New Delhi, Aug 27 (IANS): In an effort to tap potential medal hopes for the 2024 Paris Olympics, Union Steel Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh launched a corporate sports policy here on Monday.

The sports policy is aimed at providing a framework for Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSE) under the steel ministry for their sports promotion besides giving adequate access to sports.

The minister also announced that the CPSEs will form an apex sports body (ASB) that will be affiliated to National Sports Federations (NSF), Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and Para Olympic Association.

The funds allocated for the project will be utilised by the ASB for paying affiliation fees, sponsoring the athletes to various international events besides providing support to prominent sportspersons.
