Mangalore: Yodling King Melwyn Peris Releases Two Devotional CDs

Mangalore, Nov 17:  Two devotional CDs, written and composed by Yodling King Melwyn Peris were released  at a function held in the city-based Sandesha, on the evening of Sunday November 16.

One of the CDs, titled Gloria, is a collection of Konkani Christmas carols and songs, sung by different singers. The CD was released by renowned composer Fr Walter albuquerque. The other one, named Songs for the Masses, was released by well known composer and singer Valerian Mendonca.



With the release of the two CDs, the total number of cassettes/CDs written and composed by Peris has reached 38, of which 14 are devotional.

Fr Anil Castelino and Fr Clement Mascarenhas were at the dais.

Edith D'Souza compered the programme. Peris welcomed the gathering and  proposed vote of thanks. Sangeeth Guru Joel Pereira explained in detail the background, content and importance of the lyrics and the way the songs were sung.  Ashit Pinto, digital media sound engineer who recorded the CDs at Sandesha, was present.

Fr Walter Albuquerque appreciated the dedicated and hard work being put in by Melwyn Peris for the sake of Konkani songs, particularly devotional ones. Some of the songs have been together composed by Melwyn Peris and Fr Albuquerque.

Fr Valerian said, that Melwyn was born with the talent for songs and his devotional songs have a touch of divinity. He wished him a successful future.

Melwyn handed over complimentary CDs to all the singers.  Melwyn Peris, Frank, Anita Samson, Michael, Ivy D'Souza, Carol, Edith, Ashith, Babitha, Divina, Zeena, Steevan, Amabel, Johnson, Roshan and Joel Pereira have sung the songs in the CDs.
