M'lore: Actors to Add Glamour to Women's Empowerment Convention in Karkala

Mangalore, Nov 18:  A  womens' empowerment convnention  as well as Indian  traditional beauty contest  that is open for  the general public,  will be held at Karkala on Wednesday November 19.  A posse of actors from both the silver and the small screen are expected to take part in the event, informed South Canara District Central Co-operative Bank president M N Rajendra Kumar.

The convention is being jointly organized by the South Canara District Central Cooperative Bank, Udupi and Dakshika Kannada District Co-operative Milk Unions, Dakshina Kannada Milk Producers Co-operative Union and other cooperative institutions.

In the convention being held for creating social awareness and equality among the members of the Navodaya Self Help Groups who hail from rural areas, a posse of well known artistes under the leadership of well known director Vinu Balanja will participate, he added.

These celebrities will participate in a colourful procession being held on the occasion and add glamour to it. The Indian style beauty contest being held from November 19 to 22 will also be guided by Balanja. Business head of the Zee TV  Anup and Parameshwar Gundkal will also participate in the proceedings, he explained.

Theatre personality and small screen actress B Jayashri, Aparna, Nandini, Manjunat Hegde, Siddaraj Kalyankar, Suresh Rai, Nikita, Jyoti, Sundarashri, Suresh Mangalore, Madhu Hegde, Grishma, Shantala Kamat, Vijay, Master Hirannayya, Suma Dwaraknat, Soumyalata and Vinu Balanja, director will participate on all the four days of the programme, he said.
