Mangalore, Nov 18: The convocation  and the  college annual day function of A J Medical  College was held at the  college auditorium here on Saturday November 15.

Speaking on the occasion, chief guest Dr M Shantaram Shetty, vice-chancellor of Nitte University said,  that the society plays an important role in a person's success in getting prominence and status. Hence, every one of us have a responsibility to give something in return to the society, he felt.

Money can not purchase everything. Over 30% of our population is  illiterates, who lack clothes and shelter. The doctors should   treat the poor on priority  for deriving  self-satisfaction in their lives, he advised.

The doctors have a special reputation in the society. The demand in the field of medical services  never experiences downward slide like the banking, industrial and financial sectors, he pointed out.

Presiding over the function, A J Shetty, president, Laksmi Memorial Education Foundation said that the college  will commence  post graduation medical course in the year 2009-10.

Dr Prashant Shetty, director, Dr Prashant Marla and Dr Jayaprakash Alva,  dean were present on the occasion.
