Karkala, Jan 9: The sixth annual Lavakusha Jodukere Kambala will be held at Miyar near Karkala on Sunday January 11 at 8 am.

The public have a golden opportunity to enjoy the Kambala to the fullest, as it is being held in a well-equipped stadium, said MLA Gopal Bhandary, who happens to be the Kambala organizing committee president.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof K Gunapal Kadamba, secretary of the organizing committee said that all measures have been taken to conduct the Kambala in right spirit and in a harmonious manner. All arrangements are being put in place to ensure that the Kambala concludes on the same day, he explained. Around 200 buffaloes are expected to compete along with their handlers at the Kambala, he briefed.

State health and family welfare department minister Sriramalu, Dr V S Acharya, state home minister, Raju Poojary, president, Udupi zilla panchayat, ex-MLA V Sunil Kumar and Sundara B , president of Karkala taluk panchayat will inaugurate various development  works being taken up by Karnataka tourism department at a cost of Rs 84 lac. MLA H Gopal Bhandary will preside over the inaugural function.

M N Rajendra Kumar, chairman, State Coopeative Apex Bank, will distribute the prizes to the winner, whereas Dr M Veerappa Moily, Administrative Reforms Commission chairman, will preside over the prize distribution ceremony.

Present and past MLAs of the constituency, Bhaskar N Kotian, director, Navodaya Charitable Trust and others will be present on the occasion.

Antony D'Souza, Avelin R Louis, Jeevandas Adyantaya, working president, N Vidyakumar Bunnu, treasurer, Dayanand Bangera, secretary, Shyam N Shetty, joint secretary, Kanginamane Vijay Kumar, Jayaram Prabhu and others were present at the press conference.
