Kundapur: Tempo Tumbles, Ayyappa Devotee Dies

Kundapur, Jan 9: After the driver of a  tempo carrying Ayyappa devotees lost control over the vehicle at Golihole between Kollur and Byndoor on Wednesday January 7, the vehicle tumbled down the roadside drain, killing one of the passengers instantly.

While Hadkal Saheb Chikkalaga(19) from Jamakhandi Mudhol died in the accident, five people were admitted to a private hospital here with injuries. Tempo driver Kadappa and another driver reportedly fled from the scene. The vehicle has suffered extensive damage.

The devotees were bound for Shabarimla from Jamakhandi  and were on a visit to Kollur temple when tragedy struck. A case has been registered at Byndoor police station.
