Kasargod: Five Ayyappa Devotees from Mysore Die in Accident

Kasargod, Jan 11: In an accident that occurred at Nellyai Junction on the national highway 17 near Trissur on Friday January 9, five devotees from Mysore who were on a pilgrimage to Shabarimala in Kerala, lost their lives. Three other devotees who were accompanying them, were injured.

The vehicle in which the pilgrims were travelling hit a truck loaded with bamboo splinters. The sharp splinters pierced through the bodies of the pilgrims as the vehicles collided with each other. Mysore residents Chandra (40), Kiran Kumar (40), Ganesh (35), Sundaresh (35) and Shivarudra Gowda (60) succumbed to their injuries. Sundru, Venkatesh and son of the deceased  Kiran Kumar, named Srinidhi were admitted into a hospital in Trissur with serious injuries.
