Bantwal, Jan 11: The state High Court through an order, held the government action in dissolving the management committee of Nandavar Lord Vinayaka Shankaranarayana Durgamba temple some time back, as illegal.

The government had dissolved the committee after receiving complaint of misuse of funds, faulty management, improper execution of works relating to Brahmakalashotsava, temple renovation etc., against then committee.  The government had also appointed an executive officer in the place of the committee. The managing trustee of the temple A C Bhandary and trustee S M Janardan Acharya had approached the court against this order.

The bench of the High Court comprising of Justice Bannur Math and Justice N Venugopal Gowda has held the dissolution of the committee without holding proper inquiry and establishment of the guilt as illegal and one-sided. However, it has observed that the term of the previous committee has come to an end and as such, the executive officer shall continue to function till a new committee is elected.
