Mangalore, Jan 12: A meet of the congress activists convened here to arrive at a consensus on the party candidate from the city Loksabha constituency, was held at the District Congress Committee office here on Sunday January 11. The meeting ended without arriving at any decisions, after collecting block-wise opinions. Ex-minister Kagod Timmappa, ex-MLA Nanjayyanamath and Tanvir Seth, who were here to chalk out the techniques necessary for ensuring the party candidate's win and to select  suitable candidate, succeeded in only hearing what the party workers had to say in the matter.

Speaking on the occasion, Kagodu Timmappa said that the opinions of the block-level Congress activists will be collected and  a report thereof would be submitted to the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee on or before Thursday January 15.

The Congress must win over all the constituencies in the state in the forthcoming Lok Sabha election. The opinions of all the activists’ will be collected to finalize the name of a capable candidate and submitted to the KPCC, he said.

The candidates like women, minorities and youths have not been given any opportunity to compete in the election in the past. Hence, the names of such faithful activists must be selected and  the others should  actively work  for their victory, opined  Manjunat Bhandary, congress leader.

Speaking on the occasion, Kallige Taranat Shetty said that it is necessary to collect the opinions of the activists. Each one must have the responsibility to form the strong congress party. Every party worker should work for the victory of the candidate selected by the leadership without nurturing any grouse of displeasure if a candidate other than his own choice is selected, he said.

Several Congress leaders from the district like Vijay Kumar Shetty, Moideen Bava, Mamata Gatti, Harikrishna Bantwal, Bondala Jagannat Shetty, Ivan D'Souza, Suresh Ballal, Tejomaya and others, were present on the occasion.
