Mangalore: KCCI Confers Export and Industrial Awards

Mangalore, Jan 12: The awards function relating to the 'KCCI Export and Industry Awards - 2008' was held at the Kanara Chambers of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) auditorium in the city on Saturday January 10. The event was organized by KCCI.

Speaking after handing over the awards, MLA Yogish Bhat explained that the countries like China and Russia are far more developed in the field of business when compared  to India. Development in the country can be possible in the field of production and technology. The problems like lack of electricity and other problems must be solved as the primary step of development.  Failities required for the development related to tourism are being identified for finding a lasting solution, he said.

The National highways will be repaired within January 15 and more pipes will be laid to the city for solving the problem of drinking water facility, assured Bhat.

Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited received the superstar achievement award, while Lemina International bagged first and Chiramit Precision received second place for the achievement in the field of Technology.

Bola Surendra Kamat and Sons received first and Mahalasa Exports, second in the field of Agro based industry. Primacy Industries Limited received the award for Innovative Product Export, on the occasion.

B A S F India Limited received award in the field of Industry, while Canara Lighting Industry received first and Konkan Specialty Poly Production Private Limited received second in the field of Production, Vinayaka Rice Industries and Deepa Packers received first and second in agro based industries and small industry category respectively. Aravind Motors Private Limited secured first and Cauvery Coffee Traders second for Trading Concerns and Nirmala Travels secured first and Hotel Moti Mahal, second in the field of service.

Srinivas Kamat, president, KCCI, welcomed the gathering. G G Mohandas Prabhu, vice-president, delivered the key note address on the occasion. B Chandrakant Rao, secretary, proposed vote of thanks.

Ahmad Bava and Lata, office- bearers, were present on the occasion.
