Mangalore: Tension-driven Auto Driver Jumps to Death

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Feb 5: The body of an autorickshaw driver named Abdul Rehman (28), who committed suicide by jumping into Falguni river from the Kulur bridge on Tuesday night, was recovered at around 2 pm on Wednesday February 4.

Reportedly, Abdul, a poor man, was eking out a living out of earnings from plying his rickshaw on hire. He lost an envelope containing Rs 3,000 in cash, driving licence and vehicle documents around three days back. He is married and has a month-old child.

Overtaken by stress, because of his wrong assumption that it would be impossible to recreate the vehicle documents, he took to this extreme step, his father-in-law said, in a complaint filed with the Kavoor police station here.

Kavoor assistant sub-inspector Suresh has registered the case.
