The inaugural of National Students Union of India (NSUI) unit of Rukmini Shetty Memorial Government First Grade College, Barkoor near here, inaugural of NSUI units of various colleges under Brahmavar zone, the installation ceremony of office bearers, felicitation of achievers, distribution of bicycles to physically handicapped, distribution of scholarships, inter-collegiate competitions and cultural programmes, will be held from 9.30 am onwards on Sunday February 8, at Sankamma Thayee Resort, Barkoor near here, NSUI office bearers informed. 
 
The guests will be taken in a grand procession from Barkoor town to the venue, which will be accompanied by artistes depicting distinct culture and heritage of Tulunadu on Sunday morning.
 
NSUI aims at responding to the various issues concerning student community, strives to ensure that peace and harmony prevails in the society and promotes national honour and patriotism, they claimed.  

NSUI emerged as student's force that opposes caste system, communal clashes, atrocities on women and treason. It had staged a protest recently for doing away with the semester system in examinations, since it has put the future of majority of students in jeopardy.  NSUI also has strongly opposed the miscreants' attack on Christian worship centres in the last year and the recent attack on pub-goers especially young girls in Mangalore by the local activists of Sri Rama Sena that made both national and international news, the NSUI functionaries said. 
 
NSUI district coordinator Satish Poojary, Brahmavar block Congress president Udayachandra Shetty, Brahmavar zonal NSUI president Prithviraj Shetty, Yogesh, Prashanth and Praveen were present at the press meet.
