Udupi, Feb 9: The inaugural of the general body meeting of All Karnataka Brahmins Association was held at Shri Puttige Math auditorium on Sunday February 8.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr V S Acharya, state home minister, exhorted the members of the Brahmin community not to lose heart at the criticisms being heaped on them by a vast majority of people who are pitted against them, and to continue to earn the love and respect of the people through honest services and honing the intelligence and skills they naturally possess. Acharya pointed out, that out of the 11 Brahmin candidates fielded by the BJP in the last assembly election, 10 had won and three got ministerial berths.

Sri Sugunendra Teerta Swamiji of Shri Paryaya Puttige Math inaugurated the conference.

C V L Shastry, president of the Association, presided over the meeting.

K Krishnaraj Saralaya, taluk president welcomed the gathering. Vadirajacharya proposed vote of thanks. K Aravind Acharya coordinated the programme.

Chief Minister’s advisor K Diwakar and Association office bearers like Ravi Subramanya, Harikrishna Punaroor, Srinivas Bhat and Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, president of DK District Kannada Sahitya Parishat, were present.

    One can never say that criticism is heaped upon the brahmins by a vast majority of the people pitted against them. Indeed, quite a few may not like the modus operandi of Mr. Acharya although they may not have anything against him only against what he has been saying and doing !
