Bantwal: Two Drown in River Netravati near Sujeer

Bantwal, Mar 16: Yogish (36) from Okkettoor near Vittal and Vishalakshi (16) from Mangalore Kulshekhar drowned in Netravati river waters near Sujeer village on Sunday March 15.

It is learnt that a large number of relatives were on a visit to the house of Sujeer Sanjeev Saphalya in connection with the Sujeer temple annual festival. The relatives, along with family members, had reached the banks of Netravati River to pick mollusks.

It is reported, Vishalakshi moved away from the banks, while enthusiastically searching for mollusks. As she suddenly drowned, Yogeesh rushed to rescue her. However, in the bargain he too drowned.

Bodies of both the deceased were later fished out from the river and moved to the Bantwal government hospital. Bantwal rural police have registered a case.
