Mangalore, May 1: In a freak accident in Kallappu today three vehicles fell into a 10 feet ditch nearby on the National Highway in Ullal police station limits.

The accident occurred when a LPG tanker hit a tipper loaded with sand.  This resulted in the Maruti Car and the bike that were just behind the tipper colliding with each other after loosing control and fell into the 10 feet ditch.  The front portion of the car is totally damaged and the bike is hanging precariously on one side of the road.  The tipper lorry is also damaged beyond recognition.  Fortunately the people involved in the accident suffered only minor injuries.

Altogether 4 persons were injured in the accident.  The tipper driver Ravi D’Souza, a resident of Kallapu and cleaner Imran, a resident of Jeppinamogaru are undergoing treatment in a nearby hospital. The bike rider and car owner are also admitted to a nearby hospital for minor injuries.

Owner of the tipper Godwin D Souza who arrived at the spot said that the accident occurred when the LPG tanker going towards Talapadi hit the tipper that was coming towards Mangalore.   The tanker driver ran away with his vehicle after hitting the tipper.

Ullal police visited the spot and are investigating.

I just heard that India has 25lac Crore Rupees (I don''t know how many zeros are needed to write the number) in foreign banks. If that money is brought back, we could have world class roads and lesser accidents.

very sad to see the pictures. Govt. must expedite making well planned roads, dividers, broadening, illuminating with proper lights and not to delay anymore. By seeing the increase number of accidents in Mlore this should be the top priority of any govt.coming to power now...
